UNTIL FILLEDBandera ISD is searching for a NJROTC Instructor for the 2023-24 school year.
The BHS NJROTC program has doubled in size, and has a great group of students who are interested in learning more about the life in the United States Military. This is a great opportunity for retired military personnel (or qualified military veterans) to become involved in teaching our youth about military service.
Requirements:
Preferred:
- Retired from active duty from the following branches of the US Military: Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or Merchant Marines
***Retired personnel from the Army, Air Force, Texas Army National Guard, or Texas Air Guard will be considered depending on service experience.
***Active duty U.S. Navy and Marine Corps veterans will be considered depending on experience, time in service, and condition of discharge from active duty.
***All applicants must be able to pass a Texas Department of Public Safety Security/Background check in order to be approved to work in BISD schools.
- Valid Texas Teaching License (Area of licensing is negotiable due to District of Innovation Plan)
Considered:
- Retired military, and military veterans that do not possess a valid teaching license in the State of Texas may still apply. Depending on the individual's experience and years of service, the applicant may meet district requirements through the BISD District of Innovation Plan, and could therefore be considered for the position.
Position Details:
- Stipend Position
- 187 days (from beginning of school year)
- One period/section per day (1st period / 8:15 AM - 9:03 AM)
- Occasional Evening & Weekend Duties (Athletic Competitions, Color Guard, Civic Engagements, Study Trips, Volunteer Organizations & Functions, Adopt A Highway Roadside Cleanup)
- 38 Cadets in the program (Ranging from 1st to 4th year)
- Once a viable applicant is chosen for the position, the applicant must attend a week of NJROTC training in San Diego, California (Cost paid by district). This training is offered during the summer months only, and must be completed before the end of the first year of the applicants assignment in the NJROTC position.
Note: Moving forward, it is the hope of BISD to transition the unit back to 3 to 4 NJROTC sections at Bandera High School.
