As a non-profit organization, we are committed to providing engaging and enriching content while supporting local artists and initiatives. The KUVO Music Operations Internship provides experiential learning experiences to students and recent graduates who are interested in learning about the radio and music industry. This opportunity is geared toward those students and recent graduates who articulate a strong desire enter the public or commercial radio industries, new media ventures or the music industry. This internship also offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in radio station operations, music curation, and community engagement.
This internship position will start with a small cohort of fellow interns on June 3, 2024. Selected candidates may expect to work anywhere from 10-12 weeks, depending on their class schedule. This internship opportunity offers 15-20 hours of work per week, including some nights and weekends depending on event schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Open mail, log, organize and process new music
  • Industry chart reporting
  • Interns will input, edit and assign meta-data to songs, promotional announcements and other elements destined for air or digital platforms
  • Pull reports on spin counts and new adds for weekly updates to labels and promoters
  • Support the organization and maintenance of our music library and digital assets
  • Collaborate with on-air hosts and production team to ensure smooth execution of music programming
  • Actively participates in RMPM's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) training program
  • Other tasks as assigned and/or required

Minimum Qualifications of Position
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Must be currently enrolled in, or have recently completed, a program at an accredited college, university, or technical school
  • A mix of demonstrated skills, abilities and knowledge will be considered in place of education requirements
  • Passion for music and a strong interest in radio broadcasting
  • Proficiency in digital media and content management platforms is a plus
  • Familiarity with music genres, artists, and industry trends
  • Enthusiasm for community engagement and supporting local talent

  • Must be able to work both independently and as a collaborative and productive team member
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally and productively with persons at all levels
  • Must possess exceptional time management, decision making and organizational skills
  • Must be detail-oriented with an ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work within established budgets
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable MVR; must be insurable for driving station vehicles

Work Environment
This position works primarily in office, studio, editing, and/or field environments. This position must be able to work a flexible schedule with occasionally long hours including some evenings and weekends. Must be able to travel throughout the state and beyond, on occasion.
