JOB SUMMARY :

Performs diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures by utilizing equipment, computers, employing techniques and procedures in accordance with accepted age appropriate standards of practice. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of magnetic field strength and practice of safe entry into the magnetic field by staff and patients.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Graduation from an accredited AMA School in related area with two years’ experience in area of specialty. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:

Registered and licensed or deemed registry eligible by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MRI or by other area of specialty required. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs or assists in performing MRI procedures and/or diagnostic tests.
  • Maintains working knowledge of variations in current protocols and imaging techniques.
  • Ensures availability of supplies and readiness of MRI scanners.
  • Ensures readiness of emergency equipment and supplies, recognizes and reacts appropriately to potential emergency situations.
  • Provides instruction, education, and consultation to healthcare personnel, students, and patients to promote and improve quality of patient care.
  • Maintains files and compiles records according to procedure as required for accurate and current departmental records and/or reports.
  • Maintains coordination of activities with others to accomplish work objectives.
  • Maintains appropriate education/credentials to accomplish work objectives.
  • Participates in planning by establishing personal goals to support quality improvement efforts and contribute to the achievement of departmental objectives.
  • Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient care is provided in accordance with Age Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served to ensure patient’s needs are met.
  • Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communications skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building.
