MRI Apprenticeship Program 2023
Background:
- There are nearly 40 million MRI scans performed in the US annually.
- UTMB performed over 21,000 MRI exams last year & has seen year over year growth as high as 11% since 2019.
- At any point in fiscal year 2022, UTMB had at least 3 open MRI positions with some positions going unfilled for over 9 months.
- This gap in technologist coverage was the catalyst to discussions with the US Department of Labor & Galveston College to create the States first MRI Apprenticeship program.
