About the Role

This position reports directly to the Molding Department Manager and is responsible for the general and specific job duties as described below:

Your Responsibilities

· To persuade and support the following of Company policies and business objectives in the daily management of the operations of the Company.

· To meet and maintain all customer quality standards as well as the standards of Decostar.

Who we are looking for

· Follow all Decostar Industries health and safety policies and procedures that provide for a safe and healthful workplace for all Decostar Industries employees, contractors and visitors.

· Attend all job and safety related training as required.

· Do not operate any equipment, machinery or perform any job task unless you have competed documented training

· Participate in all accident investigations, internal inspections or audits or those conducted by any regulatory agency.

· Do not modify or by-pass any safety-related systems on any equipment or machinery.

· Complete pre-operational safety checklists prior to operating any equipment or machinery.

· Responsible for the overall operation, direction, and supervisory duties of the Molding Engineering Department, which includes RIM and IMM.

· Implement and maintain a stable and repeatable process utilizing Statistical analysis tools and DOE’s

· Assist in the development of tools and other activities consistent with departmental expectations.

· Develop and install secondary equipment in conjunction with APQP engineering and maintenance.

· Identify growth and development opportunities and on-going training needs of process engineers, technician and material handlers, which provide for an overall positive working environment.

· Work with raw material suppliers for cost reduction and development of new products.

· Lead cycle time reduction in conjunction with Molding APQP for cell layout.

· Direct process engineers to ensure that the latest models, charts, aids, and labor standards are available.

· Continually monitor and troubleshoot all processes related to injection molding and RIM.

· Maintain QS 9000/TS16949 procedures as they relate to process requirements and documentation thereof.

· Forecast and develop a supplier base for molding engineering department expendables. For subcontracted services, develop a supplier base that can react to the needs of the mold department to minimize downtime in emergency situation based on using lead-time and delivery schedules.

· Lead continuous improvement activities of the mold process team for reducing downtime and optimize the statistical capability of the Molding Process.

· Develop an information system to measure the success of the Molding Process team through trend analysis and categorize these trends.

· Develop and implement PFMEA’s, CI, Control plan and work instruction in the molding department.

· Maintain a high departmental standard for housekeeping in the Injection molding and RIM area.

· Ensure that all accidents are properly reported and accident investigations are completed within 24 hours.

· Have knowledge of your responsibility regarding health and safety in the workplace and be able to communicate the existence of any potential or actual danger to the employee including setting and maintaining clear, written goals.

· Understand the employee’s rights under the OSHA Act and do not allow for discrimination against any employee exercising their rights.

· Cooperate with OSHA/State OSHA inspectors.

· Always use appropriate personal protective equipment to set good workplace standards and ensure all employees maintain those standards.

· Know and maintain the safety rules for Decostar Industries.

· Do not use, operate or make changes to any equipment or machinery that may endanger any persons, including yourself.

· Report any unsafe conditions immediately, including injuries, accidents, illnesses, and property damage.

· Make sure you and any other employees are trained on any machinery or equipment that you/they are to use.

· Perform other duties as directed.

Your preferred qualifications

· Associate’s Degree in a technical field of study required. Six years work related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. Work experience combined with current schooling towards degree will be considered.

· Course work relating to injection molding an asset.

· Six years minimum injection molding experience preferred.

· Must have experience processing plastics and setting tools.

· Knowledge of automation systems and controls a must.
