ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Field and on-site specimen collection (blood, urine, saliva, etc.)
- Complete laboratory requisition forms and properly package specimen for transport to laboratory
- Contact patients to schedule lab work and create daily schedule.
- Facilitate inquiries to laboratory as needed and retrieve missing information for specimen processing & billing purposes
- Record accurate specimen tracking logs and ensure timely receipt of test results
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Explain Annuvamed ’s role in the patient’s ongoing care, including financial responsibility and obtaining patient consent, i.e. signature for test order
- Organize and maintain a clean work area and adequate inventory of supplies
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, clinic staff, and management personnel
- Any other duties or services directly related to the collection, preparation, packaging, & processing of laboratory specimen
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Certified Medical Assistant through the Texas Department of Health or possess an Interim Certification and pass the National Medical Assistant Certification exam (i.e. AAMA or NCCT) within one year of issuance. Enrollment in a Medical Assistant program is acceptable as well OR Phlebotomy Certification
- CPR certification for Health Care Providers – preferred
- Experience: 1 year of experience in phlebotomy preferred
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Drivers License
- Reliable transportation
- Knowledge of laboratory protocols and standards
- Drawing blood using needles and other equipment
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding procedures, medical procedures, and medications
- Maintain current Texas State Medical Assistant-certified certification or valid state phlebotomy certification.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
