Mobile Cafe/Food Truck Attendant

Picnic on the Green is a mobile cafe (aka food truck) serving customers in Houston and surrounding areas since 2017. We have been permanently located in the River Oaks area (@ Kuhl Linscomb) since the Spring of 2020.

Our commercial kitchen is located in Tomball. We prepare all of the food and beverage products from this location. Therefore, it would be ideal for the Food Truck Attendant to live in the Tomball/Magnolia area as this position begins and ends from this location.

Valid drivers license and ability to drive is required for this position.

Duties Include:

- Assembly and packaging of food truck menu items (sandwiches, salads).

- Set-up of menu items on the food truck.

- Daily preparation of menu board.

- Assist customers, answer menu questions, take orders, cashier, and expedite orders.

- On-going clean-up and organization.

Position Requirements:

- Must have excellent customer service skills (helpful, pleasant, clear communication, address and resolve customer issues in a positive and pleasant manner).

- Basic kitchen experience and/or skills helpful.

- Must love food!...and be willing to try menu items in order to describe to customers.

- Must have a positive and pleasant demeanor + have the ability to work well independently as well as in a group.

- 2+ years customer service experience is required. Mid-high end food service (as a Server/Waiter/Waitress, etc.) experience is helpful, but not required.

Physical Requirements:

- Often heavy lifting - so must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds independently; up to 75 pounds as a team.

- Must be able to stand for long periods.

- Must be able to climb steps/stairs.

- Must be able to use hands and fingers to operate kitchen equipment.

- Must be able to function and be comfortable in a fairly small space.

- The food truck is air conditioned, but temperatures are difficult to maintain due to the doors and windows of the food truck being opened frequently. Must be able to work in varying temperatures - can get hot (during Summer) and cold (during Fall/Winter).

Other Information:

- Work schedule: Monday-Thursday, 9:00am – 3:15pm. Hours may extend to 4/5:00pm during the holiday seasons. Occasional weekends.

- We have a delivery SUV to drive to and from the food truck. Candidates must have a good driving record and valid drivers license.

- Additional hours available for catering events, but schedules vary.

- Dress code for mobile cafe: nice casual (no athletic wear). Must be neatly dressed and groomed with hair neatly pulled back or in a cap. Chef wear totally acceptable.

- The truck will be closed when there is heavy rain and/or severe weather.

- During slow periods, employees may study or read until there is a need to assist customers.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
