Minister of Children, Youth and Young Adults
Job Description
- Provides leadership and guidance in the development of Children’s, youth, and Young adult programs
- Recruit, train, disciple and sustain a team of teachers, leaders, and volunteers within the three ministry programs
- Serve as a teacher/leader in children’s groups, junior church, youth groups and Young adult groups/classes as needed
- Schedules and coordinates the meetings of the children’s and youth ministry teams along with the ministry team leaders
- Meets a minimum of once every two months with the children’s and youth ministry teams for prayer for those involved in the ministries and to discuss initiatives, needs, programs, events, and other important issues related to the ministries
- Develop a program for the Young Adults ages 18-23 to keep them involved in the church and Christian life/ministry
- Develop future programs and activities (i.e. VBS, mission camps, mission trips, short term mission trips, fun events, etc.) for the children and youth groups
- Meets with youth and Young Adults in order to develop a relationship with them, encouraging them in their Christian walk
- Engage parents as vital partners in the children’s and youth ministries
- Meets with youth independently to develop a relationship with him/her with a goal of developing a personal relationship with Christ
- Develop teaching schedules for children’s Sunday classes, Recharge groups, junior church
- Fill pulpit at elders’ request in senior ministers’ absence
- Participates in all-church events and social activities
- Work 40 hours per week - office hours can be adjusted to accommodate some weeknight and/or weekend meetings, teaching, and other church activities
Qualifications/Requirements
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ
- Baptized believer in Christ
- Committed to Restoration Movement New Testament principles and doctrine
- A willingness to provide and sustain the vision of Lycoming Christian Church
- A consistent spiritual lifestyle and good moral character
- Must possess demonstrable knowledge of current youth culture
- Provides evidence of a growing prayer life by following Jesus’ example of service, sacrifice, and selflessness
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in area related to Bible and youth/children’s ministry
- A strong teacher demonstrating a love for God’s Word
- View the position as a ministry and a calling and not just a job
- Has experience working with children, teens, adolescents, parents, and volunteers
- Demonstrates solid organizational and communication skills being highly motivated and self-managed
- Personable and fun
- Salary is based on educational degree and experience
