Middle School Social Studies, High School Weightlifting, And Alternative School Teacher

Western Wayne School Corporation Superintendent, Mr. Andy Stover, has announced a vacancy for the position of a hybrid teaching position of Middle School Social Studies, High School Weightlifting, and Alternative School Teacher. This is a full-time position for the 2023-2024 school year.

Required Qualifications:

• Have a valid Indiana state teaching license.

Middle School Social Studies Job Description:

• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and student engagement.
• Establish and maintain standards for student behavior in a climate that promotes fairness and respect.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities to engage students in problem-solving, creative and critical thinking, and other activities that make subject matter meaningful.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources to respond to student’s diverse needs.
• Collaborate with Social Studies Colleagues to design lessons reflecting the Indiana State Standards.
• Maintain accurate grade and attendance records.
• Use summative and formative assessments to guide instructional decision-making.
• Communicate with parents, counselors, administration, or other appropriate school personnel to proactively solve student academic and behavioral progress.
• Use available technology to support instruction.
• Is punctual and reliable in attendance and supervises students as assigned.
• Participates in professional development opportunities offered by the school corporation, and/or professional organizations.
• Follows Individual Education Plans, Behavior Supports Plans, and/or 504 intervention plans to accommodate the needs of students with disabilities.

Alternative School Job Description:

• Applicants must demonstrate a sincere desire to teach and work with a diverse population, including at-risk students.
• Applicants must be able to work collaboratively with peers and administrators.
• Implement and monitor online programs for alternative education/credit recovery.
• Create and implement lessons for life skills as part of educational programming.
• Implement/record grades for every online student.
• Supervise students in the alternative education program.
• Communicate with parents/students on daily attendance.
• Communicate with the Guidance Department on progress monitoring.
• Compile and complete all required data and reports for state reporting.

Weightlifting Job Description

• Strong background/experience with strength and conditioning methods/strategies
• Availability to assist athletic teams before/after school hours
• Strong ability to motivate students to reach their potential
• Possesses a student-first mentality in all things
• Ability to incorporate technology effectively into learning
