District Primary Purpose: To assist and promote La Joya ISD in implementing a rigorous curriculum/ instructional program that supports student success and achievement.
Department Primary Purpose: To assist the principal in the overall administration of the instructional program and operations of the campus. Coordinate assigned student activities and services.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification: Masters Degree from accredited University
SBEC Certified: Standard Principal, Standard Assistant Principal,
or Mid-Management
Three years classroom teaching experience
TTESS Certified/ILD Certified
Other qualifications as deemed necessary or acceptable by the board
Experience/Knowledge: Thorough understanding of school administrative operations/knowledge of instructional curriculum. Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist the principal in the overall administration and instructional leadership of the campus.
- Serve as principal in the absence of the regular principal.
- Supervise the preparation of student schedules.
- Work with department heads and faculty in compiling the annual budget request.
- Request supplies, textbooks, and equipment, conduct inventories, maintain records, and verify receipts for such materials to ensure student success.
- Assist in conducting safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
- Assume responsibility for coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other school services.
- Supervise the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and work with the attendance supervisor for investigative follow-up actions.
- Coordinate and provide adequate supervision of students during non-instructional periods.
- Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
- Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers concerning school and student issues.
- Serve with parent, faculty and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.
- Administer the student insurance program.
- Perform such record-keeping functions as the principal may direct.
- Supervise and evaluate teachers and departments as assigned by the principal.
- Perform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
- Follow all Work from Home Protocols when working from home.
