Novato Unified School District (NUSD) has 700+ staff members who, along with the larger school community, are responsible for the education of over 7,500 students. We have eight elementary schools, including one dual-immersion, one K-8 school, two middle schools, and two comprehensive High Schools. NUSD also has an Alternative Education Center housing a continuation school and an independent study student program serving grades K-12. All schools within Novato Unified offer special education services, along with Gifted and Talented Education (GATE), and special assistance is provided for all English learner students.

Job Summary
Novato Unified School District is excited to find both Middle and High School Counselors for openings within our district. Part time positions may be combined to be full time. The ideal applicant would come to us with an intern, preliminary or clear California Pupil Services Credential in School Counseling.
Novato is a suburb located in north Marin County, with a population of approximately 53,000. We are a close-knit community, with a number of our population being lifelong citizens. Many of our NUSD parents attended Novato schools themselves. Our community is known for its more than 3,600 acres of open space, which include a number of popular hiking and biking trails. Novato Unified's mission is to engage, inspire and empower all students, in a rapidly changing world, to realize their life goals. Our vision is to provide an innovative and personalized learning experience for every student in a caring and supportive environment to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful and productive citizens. We engage parents, teachers and our community to actively support our students' growth and learning. We currently are home to 15 schools, with enrollment of approximately 7,400 students. Our 800 employees including certificated, classified and administrative staff are at the heart of our district.

New NUSD certificated staff may transfer in up to 15 years' experience, allowing for placement on Step 16 - teaching experience subject to verification of employment.
