Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Safety: Compliance to and enforcement of all company safety rules, procedures and guidelines is essential.
- Position focus: Prepare all microbial testing media, conduct QC growth promotion in compliance with industry standards, and maintain sufficient levels of all media types in stock in support of product testing in the laboratory. Operate autoclave as directed by SOP. Assist with Environmental Monitoring as necessary, including water and air testing. Maintain all laboratory glassware in a clean and organized fashion. Conduct daily monitoring and weekly download of temperature monitoring devices throughout the laboratory.
- Conduct media expiration validation trials as necessary.
- Perform and document testing in accordance with SOP, cGMP and data integrity expectations.
- Assist with maintaining proper inventory levels of reagents, media, consumables, etc.
- Troubleshooting, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment as applicable.
- Work on special projects as assigned.
- Function as back-up for other Microbiology team members.
- Communicate well with other members of the Microbiology lab.
- Champion a positive quality culture to help ensure products in the market are pure, safe & effective along with meeting customer specifications.
- Modify Lab Technician SOP's as necessary and ensure that procedures are in place and followed for all tasks in the laboratory.
- Maintain laboratory in a clean and organized fashion.
- Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Education Requirements:
Requires an associate degree in a scientific discipline or high school education with an equivalent amount of experience working in a laboratory.
- Experience Requirements:
- Basic laboratory skills required including pipetting, performing dilutions, media preparation, and autoclave usage. Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices is mandatory. Knowledge of aseptic technique is mandatory.

- Must demonstrate a working knowledge of aseptic technique and basic laboratory bench work.
- Must understand FDA regulations that are relative to product testing.
