Job Description
The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring conformance to industry as well as customer-specific standards of quality by performing material testing and inspection. Preferred candidate will be familiar with hot mix testing, performing mix design and sand and gravel sieve analysis.
Job Requirements
- This candidate should have 2-3 years related experience.
- Pay/Salary is negotiable for certified-experienced candidates.
- TDOT AND MDOT Certifications helpful
- Must be able to work in a team based environment
- Must have excellent Math Skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail.
- Responsible for checking gradation of all aggregates and hot mix on a daily basis, to ensure all requirements and specifications are met.
- Computer proficiency in Excel Spreadsheet applications
- Communicate with the asphalt plant regarding quality and status of test results in order to ensure a quality product
- Accountable for the Mix design being produced out of Asphalt Plant.
- Regular Quality Control testing of all sand and gravel products being produced at the quarries.
- In charge of stockpile and job gradation reports on a regular basis.
- Responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of the lab.
- Assisting with the roller pattern, core cutting, and nuclear gauge for test strips on all jobs being produced from Asphalt Plant
- Perform Pugmill gravel tests as needed.
- Perform any other specific tasks assigned to you by your supervisors and management.
- Willing to attend seminars relating to asphalt, sand, gravel and other road construction related topics.
- Attend classes and fulfill all TDOT requirements for certification in becoming a Lab and Mix Design Technician.
- Work together with fellow lab techs on special assignments as needed.

Must have valid driver license with reasonably clear, insurable driving record.
