We are looking for a Technician III for our Micro Quality Control team to be responsible for supporting the Rochester Laboratory in a manufacturing setting and leading the QC team to successfully perform. This includes schedule priorities, training QC team, routine Microbiological lab testing with an accurate, timely recording of test results into the business integrated module as well as utilizing lab reference materials for information regarding testing.
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Develop, manage, and coordinate the quality control lab documentation systems.
- Responsible for maintaining workspace and adequate stock of lab supplies in conjunction with other Q.C. Laboratory members.
- Coordinate and perform necessary sampling for the facilities and lab areas following established QC protocols.
- Perform microbiological techniques, including serial dilutions, plating techniques, agar/broth makeup, PCR methods for product release.
- Communication of information about the quality control testing results to plant staff and management team.
- Lead team daily meetings to help outline lab priorities and troubleshooting issues.
- Lead Quality Control investigator on contamination troubleshooting team.
- Assist Operations and/or Engineering Teams by being responsive to any requests relative to QC testing quickly and efficiently prioritizing as necessary.
- Orchestrate and compile data summaries and reports for internal cross-over training packages.
- Lead Quality Control teams training programs and manage organization of completion.
- Lead shelf-life testing and prioritization.
- Lead Quality Control of new product development.
- Conduct implementation of new technologies
- Lead implementation of Dietary Ingredient compliance for the Quality Control organization
- Support compliance to all site certifications.
- Understand and follow Good Manufacturing Practices for the care, handling, and storage of food products; report any known or observed violations to management. Utilize HACCP philosophy and procedures in everyday work routine
- Involvement in investigations for non-conforming product with Quality Assurance, Management team and production departments.
Understanding and practicing Good Laboratory Practices are required.
You have a minimum of bachelor's degree in biology, biotechnology, microbiology and at least 2-4 years related work experiences (preferred).
Mastery of microbiology aseptic technique.
Experience leading lab scheduling, testing and organization of day to day tasks.
Experience using microbiological methods such as pour plating, pipetting and enumeration methods.
Ability to use a database/complex sets of data and use custom data visualization applications.
Ability to execute and analyze statistical data and equipment validations.
Experience with PCR or other molecular biology techniques.
Ability to keep accurate notes and records
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to communicate and collaborate with other units
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
Experience performing serial dilutions and microbiological plating techniques.
You have a good work ethic with high work standards.
Knowledge and experience with flow cytometry (preferred)
