Job Description:
Technical and analytical work in connection with the specifications, design, programming, testing and implementation of application software residing on local area networks and intelligent workstations. Provide on-going maintenance, support and training for all software; including upgrades, bug fixes, general troubleshooting, and training classes. Administers all users id’s and security on various networks and operating systems. Assist in file storage and recovery. Install, configure, and maintain computer equipment. All other duties that ensure a high level of system availability and reliability for all Town users.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors degree in computer science or related field; four years experience in the setup and implementation of application software residing on intelligent workstations or local area networks. Minimum 2 year’s experience in the operation, support, and maintenance of personal computers, printers, and networking. Proven ability to diagnose and repair personal computers and related equipment. Experience with application development tools in a windows environment utilizing open standards Structure Query Language (SQL), and relational database technology. Adequate work related experience in lieu of required education as stated previously will be considered.
Additional Qualifications:
In depth knowledge of SQL programming language, DOS, Powershell, MS Office, Generic Editors, Emulators, and Internet. Working knowledge of database, tables and how information is stored and received. Knowledge of SQL programming language and ability to use programming tools to accurately manipulate data. Working knowledge of the technical complexity of networked systems including, but not limited to UNIX and Windows networking systems. In depth working knowledge of system and PC hardware and related peripherals. Ability to conceptualize the “business process” of each department and the interrelationships of departments. Ability to quickly comprehend user/department needs and to develop plans and resolutions to problems. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner. Ability to exercise patience with non-technical users. Ability and desire to teach adults. Excellent analytical and instructional skills. Proficiency in the use of computers including word processing, spreadsheets and database.
