This is a Civil Service Competitive position. Applicants must qualify as one of the following
- Currently hold the title of Micro Computer Repair Technician and wish to be reassigned to this position.
- Be ranked as one of the top three on the current Jefferson County Civil Service list for Micro Computer Repair Technician
- Meet civil service minimum qualifications (below) to be hired as provisional, then pass a civil service examination with results being reachable status.
Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and one year of experience in the repair and maintenance of micro-computers or other electronic equipment. Note: Study in a regionally accredited college, university, or technical institute in electronic equipment.
Examples of Work: Repairs, adjusts, maintains, and cleans micro-computer equipment; trouble shoots, tests, and repairs micro-computer, disc drivers, printers, monitors, and other related equipment; Analyzes and repairs electronic defects; may demonstrate and instruct students and teachers on the use of computer equipment and peripherals; performs field repairs to micro-computers and peripheral equipment; provides telephone support for micro-computer problems; maintains an inventory of repair and computer-related equipment; keeps records and makes reports.
Duties: This is a technical work involving responsibility for the repair, maintenance, and operation of a variety of microcomputer and communications equipment. Work is performed under general supervision in accordance with established procedures, with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment for carrying out details of the work. Does related work as required.
