TheMeter Technician Leadearns a competitive salary $22.69-$23.60/per hour, based on qualifications. A DAY IN LIFE AS A METER TECHNICIAN LEAD
General Description
The purpose of this job within the organization is to coordinate daily field service operations for the Utility Billing Department for the purpose of gathering monthly meter readings for water billing purposes.
This job works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Essential Functions:
Receives daily service requests for water meter operations from Utility Billing.
Loads and coordinates meter reading assignments for the purpose of obtaining meter reading for water billing purposes.
Maintains a daily count of completed service requests, meter readings and maintenance logs by inputting data.
Monitors daily completion of tasks by advising, assisting and directing Meter Technicians.
Downloads completed paperwork to Utility Billing personnel.
Performs meter maintenance and meter reading assessment checks in order to accurately meet the needs of the consumer, as well as that of Utility Billing.
Performs diagnostics or contract services on water meter, and components to check for accuracy and/or abnormal water consumption.
Additional Duties:
Monitors and maintains water meter, components and other material in inventory in order to meet projected demands.
Coordinate with distributors and builders for large meters and materials for new construction delivery.
Displays data information of daily meter operations through the use of charts and graphs for the purpose of updating department heads to the workload, tasks completed and future demand trends.
Performs general trouble-shooting practices to assist customers with heavy consumption issues in determining better ways to monitor water usage, maintain water fixtures and components.
Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college.
Requires one year water meter utility or closely related experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
Valid Driver's License
Class C Water Distribution License or ability to obtain within one year.
Customer Service Inspectors License (CSI) or ability to obtain within a year.
