I. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for maintaining the meter equipment and meter records of the
cooperative in compliance with the requirements of the Substantive Rules of the Public
Utility Commission of Texas and applicable ANSI standards.
II. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
A. Reports to: Technical Services Manager
III. MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES
A. Is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the meter shop.
B. Determines correct metering equipment to be installed in new and existing
installations.
C. Responds to member inquiries. Investigates high bill complaints, field tests
metering equipment and reviews energy consumption with member consumers.
D. Tests and repairs single and polyphase meters, AMR meters and solid state
metering and recording equipment.
E. Programs solid state metering equipment and associated recording equipment.
F. Regularly performs field inspection and reading of large power recording
metering equipment and prepare reports on demand and usage on these
installation for consumer billing.
G. Regularly performs interrogation of AMR metering equipment.
H. Recommends meters that need to be sent to another repair shop for tests or
equipment that should be scraped.
I. Maintains calibrations of all instruments and recording equipment.
J. Maintains inventory on all single phase and three phase meters.
K. Maintains inventory of current transformers and potential transformers.
L. Maintains inventory of meter sockets for three installations above 200 amperes
and for all transformer rated installations.
M. Maintains inventory of repair parts for meters and recording equipment.
N. Sets up and maintains necessary inventory and test records.
O. Installs and removes metering and recording equipment and completes record
forms and reports as required.
P. Observes all applicable safety rules and regulations.

The Meter Technician I shall be required to perform any other duties necessary or
assigned in order to fulfill the objective of the Cooperative.
IV. EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
A. Member-Consumers: Personnel assigned to this classification shall respond to
member inquiries and resolves problems or direct them to the supervisor or other
appropriate personnel.
B. General Public: Personnel should maintain good relations in all contacts with the
public.
V. INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
A. Personnel assigned to this position shall at all times work with other personnel
within the cooperative as a working member of a team.
