Form of workPosition Description: Reporting to the Metal Fabrication Lead, the Metal Fabrication Specialist will perform welding and fabrication of metal alloys, to maintain, repair, design and modify equipment and to construct specialized devices, parts, and structures. You must be an excellent team player, must work closely and often side by side with 3rd party laborers, customers, contractors, local engineers, and project managers. Phenomenal attendance is required for this position.
Essential job duties include but are not limited to:
- Set up welding machines based on the job at hand using a Welding Procedure Specification.
- Read and interpret sketches, shop drawings, work orders, and specifications in addition to following verbal instructions.
- Follow, create, and help maintain Welding Procedure Specifications.
- Operate machinery used in the production process.
- Assess welded surfaces, structures, and components to identify errors.
- Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Build up worn or defective surfaces.
- Follow and enforce safety and OSHA regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.
- Inspect welds to ensure quality standards and specifications are met.
- Utilize hand tools, tape measure, fixtures, jigs, and clamps for welding jobs.
- Willing to work other areas of production as needed.

Required Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram form such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures.
- Familiar with reading and understanding shop drawings or sketches; knowledge of and experience in MGAW (MIG), TIG welding including spool gun; fitter, and use of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses.
- Driven, accountable, innovative, and a self-starter.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently to meet commitments.
- Superior communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction.
- Work independently and within a team.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers at various levels of the organization.
- Ability to lift heavy items up to 50-75 pounds consistently required.
Experience:
- MIG Welding certification required. TIG and ARC welding experience is a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years professional experience.
- Valid Driver’s License Required.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Vocational/Technical, U.S. Armed Forces, apprenticeship, or on the job training desired.
Remote Work:
This role will be primarily office based. If the need arises to work remote, including nights and weekends, employees are expected to work in a secure location to protect company data and have stable high-speed internet.
Additional requirements:
This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work a general schedule of 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Employees may be required to work beyond the standard schedule to meet the deliverables and expectations of the role. Employees working from home, like those in an office, should use their time wisely and constructively plan their day since there is limited daily oversight.
