Mental Health Professional
Location: Bloomsburg, PA
Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:30am -4:30pm
Compensation: $58,000 - $63,000 annual
Status: Full-Time
Job Description: The dynamic Mental Health Professional brings a high level of professionalism and dedication to the support of individuals living with HIV or AIDS (PLWH). This role involves conducting thorough Mental Health assessments, orchestrating individual and group sessions, and devising and executing treatment plans and goals. The counselor consistently engages in referrals and demonstrates adept coordination with various Mental Health Professionals, including psychiatrists, and community-based agencies. The counselor will also play a proactive role in creating and executing innovative Mental Health programs, contributing to the continuous enhancement of our care initiatives. This commitment to professionalism ensures the delivery of comprehensive and effective Mental Health care for our clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide Mental Health assessments, develop and implement treatment plans/goals, provide referrals and coordinate with other Mental Health Professionals and allied treatment providers, to include psychiatrists and other community-based agencies.
2. Perform individual and group sessions including preparing materials for sessions.
3. Propose, design, and implement new counseling programs to address emerging Mental Health needs in conjunction with the department director.
4. Have a fundamental understanding of DSM 5, or its successor, psychiatric disorders, psychotropic medications, brain physiology and demonstrate a working knowledge of the various theoretical models of psychotherapy, behavioral counseling and other Evidenced Based Practices.
5. Advocate for clients within the Mental Health system and assist in accessing resources.
6. Maintain a safe, orderly and therapeutic physical environment for clients including crisis intervention.
7. Adhere to ethical standards and legal regulations governing Mental Health counseling.

Requirements
Education
· Master’s degree in behavioral science or related field (social work, counseling, psychology, etc.).
· Licensed to provide counseling services in the state of Pennsylvania preferred
Experience
· 2-5 years experience in providing Mental Health counseling.
· Proven experience in proposing and implementing new programs.
· Ability to read and speak in Spanish preferred
· Experience providing individual and group counseling REQUIRED.
· Be familiar and follow the laws of the State of Pennsylvania and the federal government as they pertain to Mental Health practices.
· Must be willing to travel to all agency office locations (Bloomsburg, Hazleton, Wilkes-Barre and Towanda) and satellite offices.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Ability to read and speak in Spanish preferred
· Knowledge of local health and social services preferred
· Knowledge of HIV preferred, but not required
· Ability to work independently as well as a member of a group/team.
· Ability to communicate effectively with persons of diverse social, economic, cultural, age, sexual and racial backgrounds.
· Maintain required job knowledge, skills and core professional competencies.
· Ability to input and maintain accurate records, perform research and compile data.
· Ability to attend departmental and all-staff meetings as directed, staying informed of ongoing changes in the department and organization.
· Ability to operate agency and department specific software systems, standard office equipment (machines, tools and devices) used in performing essential functions including computer related equipment, copiers and telephones.
Physical Requirements or Licenses
· Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds.
· Valid PA driver’s license required. Travel throughout the 6-county region and beyond is a regular part of this position.

Application and Hiring Process
Interviews will be on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Initial applicants will be reviewed beginning on March 25, 2024.
