We are looking for an associate or licensed, Mental Health Therapist for our Short-Term Residential Treatment Service (STRTP) programs in Fountain Valley and Costa Mesa.
SUMMARY:
This clinical position will provide therapeutic prevention, assessment, intervention services for six bed, short term residential treatment facilities. The facilities are located in Fountain Valley and serve both male and female, between the ages 10-18 years old. The Clinician is responsible for providing therapeutic and prevention services to clients. This includes case management, education, de-stigmatization of Mental Health issues, and crisis intervention. The Clinician shall demonstrate high legal and ethical standards and operate from a culturally competent and strengths-based approach. The Clinician will fulfill productivity requirements, comply with all documentation standards, and participate in an on-call rotation. This position will be responsible for facilitating small support and psychoeducational groups. If necessary, the Clinician is responsible for coordinating Mental Health services and Link and Consultation services in a manner to ensure follow-through on court ordered service plan, IEP Mental Health Plans, etc.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for maintaining a minimum case load of six clients.
- Provides psychotherapy each week, according to the clients’ needs.
- Implements the Client Care Plan.
- Collaborates with the psychiatrist to provide best possible treatment for clients.
- Mental Health charting completed within the Medi-Cal standards using the SCCS Electronic Medical Records (EMR) platform. Reports and assessments are to be completed on time and in a professional manner.
- Attends the all required meetings as representative of SCCS and client such as staff meetings, chart audits, meetings with psychiatrist, county meetings such as Child and Family Team meetings, etc.
- Maintains a good relationship with the county social workers.
- Provide ethical, culturally-competent individual, family, and small support/psychoeducational groups to children ages 10-18 years old as determined during the plan development and the Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings
- Responsible for maintaining a minimum caseload of six clients
- Responsible for providing 5-6 hours of billable/non-billable Medi-Cal client services per day.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
- Must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to author and produce his/her own emails, letters, reports and other documents in a professional manner. That is, documents and correspondence should be relatively free of grammar and spelling errors.
- Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of employees within the organization, to include peers, co-workers and supervisors.
- Must be detail oriented and have the ability to complete documentation in a timely manner.
- Excellent time management, organizational and follow through skills.
- Ability to appear to work every day and on time. Must have reliable transportation as travel up to 2 hours between office locations and within the community is required.
- Ability to follow directions from a supervisor.
- Ability to understand and follow posted, printed and/or electronic work rules and procedures.
- Ability to accept constructive feedback in a respectful, open and interactive manner.
- Experience working with people over the phone.
- Must have the ability to perform efficiently and effectively with multiple interruptions.
- Ability to handle crisis situations as well as formulate and utilize case conceptualization skills.
- Familiarity of crisis management skills.
- Ability to treat and teach anger management.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required.
- 1+ years’ experience in report writing, assessment/diagnostic skills, group and family therapy skills.
Licensure, Registration, Certification
- PsyD/PhD/LCSW/MFT preferred. If not licensed, active registration with the California BBS or Board of Psychology as Registered Psychologist.
- Valid CA driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
- Completion of CPR/First Aid within the first thirty (30) days of employment.

Pay: $64,480.00 - $70,000.00 per year
