Moreland School District--Starting in August, 2024:
Under the direction of the Director of Educational Services, the Mental Health Clinician is part of a multi-disciplinary team working with students with social-emotional needs. The Mental Health Clinician provides Mental Health counseling and therapeutic interventions for students and their families. This position works at a school site.
Summary: Develops, implements, and maintains a student counseling/therapy program. Coordinate interagency support programs and oversee conflict resolution and Solution Teams. Provide case management, assess barriers to student’s success, provide crisis intervention counseling services and facilitate education for students, parents and school staff. Assist in facilitating and presenting school wide Suicide Prevention program.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education:Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field. AMFT and ACSW candidates encouraged to apply. Supervision by a LCSW offered for those needing supervised hours for licensure.
Experience: At least 1-year experience working directly with special education/high risk children in a school
Licenses and other requirements: Complete Safety Care Training within first 6 months of employment offered by the district
Examples of Essential Duties:
● Identifies student counseling needs
● Intervenes and seeks resolutions in student crisis situations
● Serves on the district’s crisis response team and provides crisis prevention, intervention and postvention services within the district and the county as needed
● Provides direction for student’s needs and coordinates programs designed to meet the counseling needs of the school
● Assess home, school, personal and community factors that may affect a student’s learning
● Conducts regularly scheduled individual and small group counseling activities
● Develop a plan for the therapeutic intervention for each student
● Works with parents to extend therapeutic interventions to the home.
● Provides pertinent information to parents, administrators, teachers and other staff members relative to the goals and objectives, strategies, and processes of the counseling program
● Teach and reinforce positive behavior choices made by students in the classroom, home and community settings
● Serves students with Mental Health IEP Goals
● Prepare and present a summary of therapeutic progress at assigned students’ IEP meetings.
● Prepare and update written annual social-emotional IEP goals and objectives.
● Provide social skills training (i.e. pro-social) communication, anger management, conflict resolution, etc.) to both individual students and groups.
● Assist the behavior specialist in case management of students in class and at home.
● Participate in weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings to review behavioral and therapeutic issues/progress of each student.
● Communicate monthly with students’ parents to provide consistency with behavioral supports and interventions at home and school.
● Attend District/Site Special Education meetings and offer resources to staff.
● Maintain confidentiality and comply with governmental laws and regulations.
● Participate and successfully complete professional development seminars/workshops assigned by supervisor.
● Comply with mandated reporting requirements; report any suspicions of abuse or neglect of children to the proper authorities.
● Maintain confidentiality of student information
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $50.50 - $64.46 per hour
