What You'll Do:
Plans, implements & evaluates major unusual incidents (MUIs) & unusual incidents (UIs) at the Columbus Developmental Center to ensure consumer safety & center compliance: Monitors & supervises investigative agents in the performance of their duties at CDC. Acts as a manager to direct activities, assignments, scheduling of staff. Reviews & directs written reports to assure timely completion & compliance with regulations, policies & procedures. Acts as a liaison between investigators & superintendent & as a primary point of contact with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Analyzes MUIs & UIs for trends & patterns and to develop preventative measures. Makes recommendations for course of action and brings to supervisor for discussion. Conducts report audits for compliance with and in preparation for Medicaid and Licensure Surveys. Develops Plans of Correction and coordinates implementation and follow up in response to Medicaid and Licensure citations. Responsible to investigate and report on non-resident related incidents on grounds (e.g. damage to state property, theft of employee property, trespassing, workplace violence etc.) Conducts staff meetings to disseminate relevant information, assumes responsibility in absence of supervisor. Conducts periodic monitoring of services (e.g. programmatic, dietary, behavior) to ensure appropriate implementation of individual plans. Reports findings of monitoring and coordinates with Quality Assurance Office to prepare reports for use by QMRPs and other staff. Conducts investigations, collects evidence, documents findings & formats to written report format in accordance with MUI and UI regulations, policies and procedures.
Meets with various levels of programmatic staff to ensure consistent application of MUI/UI programmatic implementation; represents incident prevention unit & other management & supervisory staff before various groups & staff; attends meetings, workshops & seminars &/or meets with representatives of other governmental agencies; prepares & maintains required records & reports related to unit; chairs or participates in interdisciplinary team meetings & writes, evaluates &/or assists programmatic staff in recommending individual habilitation plans when necessary; assists institution superintendent &/or operations director (i.e., higher-level Mental Health Administrator) in developing goals & long-range plans, or community service agreements with providers; trains institutional & regional staff; prepares reports.
Plans coordinates and supervise fire drills, tornado drills, participates in development of disaster plans, participates on committees as assigned (e.g. Health & Safety, UIR), acts as a pre-disciplinary hearing officer, conducts training for new hires, and annual in-service training to staff. Attends Executive Staff meetings as required. Acts as Administrator on Duty as assigned; assists in other duties as required.

24 mos. exp. in development & implementation of treatment/habilitation plans for individuals who are mentally ill or developmentally disabled & working as part of inter-disciplinary team to assess individual’s needs & abilities; 12 mos. exp. as lead worker providing work direction & training for other employees; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in state &/or federal regulations & standards governing care, custody & programming of consumers/residents in Mental Health or developmental centers; 6 mos. exp. in writing or assisting in development of policies, procedures, goals & objectives of operational unit or program of agency or firm; 1 course in manpower planning or 3 mos. exp. scheduling staff to ensure adequate coverage or projecting adequate staff levels; 3 mos. trg. in budgeting or 3 mos. exp. preparing or assisting in preparation of budget for operational unit or program of agency or firm.
- Or completion of undergraduate core program in Mental Health & developmental disabilities technology, social work or comparable field (e.g., child & family community services), special education, psychology or rehabilitation; 12 mos. exp. as lead worker providing work direction & training for other employees; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in state &/or federal regulations & standards governing care, custody & programming of consumers/residents in Mental Health or developmental centers; 6 mos. exp. in writing &/or assisting in development of policies, procedures, goals & objectives of operational unit or program of agency or firm; 1 course in manpower planning or 3 mos. exp. scheduling staff to ensure adequate coverage or projecting adequate staff levels; 3 mos. trg. in budgeting or 3 mos. exp. preparing or assisting in preparation of budget for operational unit or program of agency or firm.

- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
