Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge, a leader in offering treatment programs to those battling addiction, is seeking a dynamic individual to fill our opening for our Brainerd Men's Chaplain.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
Assessments
- Interview clients to determine their personal history including: family relationships, substance abuse, medical conditions, legal issues, and spiritual condition.
- Identify and categorize root issues that contribute to substance abuse and other life-controlling problems affecting the client.
- Prioritize issues identified in the assessment in order of importance to establish counseling priorities.
Counseling
- Counsel assigned clients on issues identified on the initial student assessment by helping clients discover the sources of the major issues in their life.
- Be present as a resource to short-term clients who need pastoral care
- Provide clients information and techniques to help them apply biblical guidance and instruction to their thoughts, behavior and attitudes.
- Be a bridge to help unify the short and long-term programs, helping to create a smooth transition for clients as they transfer from one to the other
- Be available as a resource for any clients and/or short-term staff
- Be present for short-term groups, as needed
Teaching
- Teach Short-term classes as needed and as coordinated by short-term staff
Reports
- As soon as is possible after each session, enter client’s progress notes in the database noting the focus of the session, the client’s responses, and future course of action.
- Ensure reports contain sufficient detail and clarity to be of benefit to other MNTC staff members and individuals outside of MNTC
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent individual counseling and documentation skills.
- Documented minimum two years freedom from chemical use problems.
- Ability to relate to people with substance abuse and other life-controlling problems
- Ability to teach group lectures on applicable treatment topics.
- Ability to keep on task and meet weekly minimum caseload requirement.
- Ability to control counseling sessions and redirect clients to focus on the appropriate issues
- Ability to model a lifestyle that is in compliance with Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge’s Code of Conduct
- Ability to successfully complete background check process.
