Job Summary:The Registered Nurse (RN) II is a professional caregiver who takes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated period. The RN II provides care to patients through the use of self, the nursing process, the environment and instrumentation, and other health care team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs assessment and data collection focusing on various patient aspects.
- Develops a goal-directed care plan.
- Implements care consistently and thoroughly.
- Establishes care priorities based on patient needs and available resources.
- Identifies patient/family learning needs.
- Shows sensitivity to patient rights and needs.
- Coordinates care for patients.
- Builds effective relationships with the health care team, patients, and families.
- Delegates tasks appropriately.
- Evaluates care effectiveness.
- Uses communication effectively.
- Applies safety principles.
- Handles emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
- Participates in staff development and performance improvement activities.
- Contributes to nursing research activities.

- Provides data for staffing decisions.
- Shows proficiency in using computers in documenting patient information.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Develops prioritized care plans based on nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes.
- Identifies and addresses patient/family learning needs.
- Demonstrates knowledge in caring for specific patient populations.
- Participates in staff development activities.
- Documents patient care accurately and concisely.
- Willing to train in specialty areas if no qualified candidates available.
Basic Qualifications: Experience
- Three (3) years of Staff Nurse experience with certifications in specific units.
- Recent experience in an acute care setting within the last 3 years.
- High School Diploma/GED
- Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in California.
- Registered Nurse License (California)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 6 months of hire
- Basic Life Support certification
- Demonstrated knowledge of the RN scope of practice.
- Commitment to service orientation.
- Effective communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Training in specialized areas may be required.
