Job description

Job Description

Gate Bioscience is a venture-backed, preclinical biotech company creating a new class of medicines called Molecular Gates. Our therapeutics are small molecules that aim to cure diseases by selectively eliminating harmful extracellular proteins at their origin: inside the cell. Every extracellular protein—of which there are more than 4,000—must pass through a single channel in the cell before it can be secreted into the body. Molecular Gates bind to this channel, setting up a “gate” that recognizes and blocks a specific, disease- causing protein from exiting. With nowhere to go, the protein is degraded instead of being secreted. By eliminating the harmful protein at the source, Gate aims to eliminate the disease for patients. Founded in 2021, Gate is backed by Versant Ventures, a16z Bio + Health, ARCH Venture Partners, and GV. Learn more at www.gatebio.com.

By three months, you will be independently designing, synthesizing and proposing new compounds to expand the SAR understanding of programs as well as utilizing the platform to design diversity libraries to support future new
lead identification. You will also collaborate with a biology counterpart in prioritizing compounds for ADME, in vitro toxicological, and in vivo profiling to make quick go/no-go decisions.

By six months, you will be independently leading a project team in collaboration with a biology counterpart, you will be responsible for setting project meeting agendas, budgets, and delivering on company goals.

Required Skills:

• Creativity, productivity, and independence in the lab to deliver key advances in SAR understanding and enable the success of your project.
• Demonstrate the ability resolve key project hurdles by effectively using available information and technical expertise.
• Experience using SBDD and chemoinformatic tools to guide design of small molecule drugs.
• Experienced at project leadership, including setting relevant project goals, managing internal & external resources, collaborating with and communicating effectively to other stakeholders.
