Premise Health is proud to partner with Cummins Engine and is seeking a Full-Time Medical Translator - Bilingual Spanish to work in our Health and Wellness Center located in Columbus, IN!
Schedule:
- Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
- Flexibility to work on Saturday as needed
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Interprets and translates information between limited English-speaking patients and medical personnel or others as necessary. Translates written materials as needed. May advocate for patients and informs staff and patients of relevant cultural issues. Requires competency in English and Spanish languages.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Provides medical and general language interpretation and translation services for staff, patients and their families.
• Assesses and monitors patients understanding of information conveyed.
• Ensures communication between vendor partner and Premise Health is translated accurately.
• Advises medical personnel about any cultural issues that may impact patient care.
• Records and monitors interpretation activities according to medical standards
• May be required to translate written documents.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• High school diploma
• Current Medical translation/ interpreter certification (CMT or CMI)
Experience:
• Requires fluency in Spanish in addition to English
• Minimum 1 year experience providing translation services in the medical field
Knowledge and Skills:
• Medical terminology
• Excellent computer skills (Internet software, spreadsheets)
• Excellent communication skills
• Healthcare experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred
