Full-time Opening for a Medical Transcriptionist Onsite at our Core Lab in Moraine, OH. Candidates must be available to work on-site at location.
Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm with a rotating Saturday every 5 weeks.
Position Summary:
Transcribes and finalizes surgical pathology reports in computer system to provide the clinician with a pathological diagnosis for patient management.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Verify patient information through use of the OnBase Scanning system. Enter the required fields for CoPath reporting.
- Transcribe gross surgical description and final surgical pathology reports via the Fusion Dictation system. Clarify any unclear or questionable dictation from the surgical pathology assistants or Pathologists.
- Process Histology slide/block requests when received via Fax. Retrieve from storage and document the request in CoPath using the slide send out process for tracking purposes. Take the requested items to Transportation for delivery to MVH Pathology Department.
- Every 5th Saturday work rotation.
- Provide clerical assistance to Pathology staff when needed.
- Assist in training of new employees.
- Keep work area clean and orderly.
- Comply with all company, department and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Handle client related questions and problems in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Promote positive communications with patients, clients, coworkers and affiliated hospital staff.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of High school degree or equivalent.
- Medical terminology and good computer skills.
- Must be proficient in typing (65 wpm) and spelling.
- Must be able to transcribe medical dictation, use foot pedal, and decipher hand written reports.

- Good communication skills and ability to work with people.
- Sound reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
- Daily involvement with confidential information and data.
- Possible exposure to chemical and biological hazards.
Safety demands and requirements:
- Be familiar with and adhere to safety, ergonomic and health policies of the Company.
- Comply with all PPE requirements when in the laboratory or other biohazard areas.
- Complete required safety training and health evaluations in a timely manner.
- Anticipate safety hazards, act upon unsafe situations and promote safety awareness.
