GENERAL SUMMARY:

Summary:
Responsible for transcribing physician’s reports, patient summaries, operation reports, letters, and other related material from Dictaphone recordings to computer written reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Transcribes medical records from Dictaphone machings, as according to productivity and quality goals.
2. Demonstrates an understanding of confidentiality standards related to the transcription of patient records to protect the patient and the business/institution.
3. Participates in department Quality Improvement initiatives.
4. Files dictations in medical charts or physician’s folders.
5. Delivers transcription copies to appropriate individuals or departments.
6. All other duties as assigned, within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL:

Education High School Diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Two years of experience in medical transcription Preferred: Two plus years of medical transcription in a hospital or physician office setting.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL:

• Education Certificate Program
  Medical Transcribe
  
Credential Certified Medication Technician
