The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is responsible for providing fair balanced, objective, scientific information and education to health care professionals and to internal partners as required by scientific and business needs. The MSL is considered the scientific and clinical source for current and future Janssen Neuroscience products. The MSL is also responsible for staying abreast of current scientific and treatment landscape trends in therapeutic areas of interest. The MSL provides research support for company and investigator initiated research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building external relationships with the health care provider team (MD, PA, NP, RN, Pharm.D.) and developing and managing a geographical territory. These relationships and engagements will include both virtual & in person.
- Developing and maintaining a territory strategic plan, which includes clinical activities with identified OLs, institutions, community practices, pathways influencers and advocacy organizations.
- Develop a competency in the areas of Influence & Results Focused, Communication, Stakeholder Engagement, Product & Therapeutic Area Knowledge, and Data Insights & Dissemination.
- Demonstrate the ability to build community and academic opinion leader partnerships through establishing relationships and conducts scientific exchange with community and institutional HCPs.
- Execute research initiatives, maintain strong scientific acumen, and support department operations and internal partners.
- A Doctorate level degree is preferred (PharmD, PhD, MD, or DNP).
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- Post graduate experience required with preference for Neuroscience-related clinical experience.
- Some research, clinical and health care system knowledge is required.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred:
- Significant experience giving presentations is highly preferred.
- Residency/fellowship/industry experience preferred.
Other:
- Must be fluent in the English language and have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Expected to work 40 hour work week, with flexibility on occasion to work additional hours when needed.
- Requires travel of approximately 75% depending on geography (includes overnight travel); Other travel for business meetings as required; Travel by air, including overnight and weekends as needed.
- Must be able to lift and transport work materials
- A valid driver's license
This position is eligible for a company car through the Company's FLEET program.
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $113,000 to $195,500. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
