Job Description

DIRECT HIRE - Provepharm

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) a scientifically and/or medically credentialed therapeutic and disease expert who engages in bi-directional exchange of scientific/medical information with external parties, including physicians and other health-care providers (HCPs).  MSL's provide key insights to internal company stakeholders in the United States (e.g., Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, Commercial) based on their communications with the scientific and health care communities. In addition, MSL's provide information on research developments, and new concepts in medical treatment, giving perspective to field activities associated with growing existing products, and bringing new products to market.  MSL's are responsible for adhering to policies and procedures to accomplish Medical Affairs projects, processes, and goals supporting Provepharm's products in compliance with all US laws and guidance's. 

The MSL is an experienced medical and healthcare business professional who mentors less experienced colleagues within their sphere, manages their accounts with longer term strategies in mind, engages with cross-functional partners confidently, manages conflict professionally and with a broad perspective, takes on increasingly visible projects both within and outside Medical Affairs, and generally leverages experience and leadership skills to advance broad company objectives and support the development of others.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops professional relationships and compliantly engages with national and regional thought leaders and HCPs to communicate medical and scientific information related to the Company's products and areas of therapeutic interest.
  • Addresses scientific questions and directs inquiries outside of MSL scope (e.g., CME grant requests) to appropriate Company resources consistent with applicable compliance policies.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Provepharm's therapeutic areas of interest including the competitive device and drug landscape.
  • Assists in the development of abstracts and posters, training materials, slides, standard response letters or other internal or external resources supporting scientific exchange.
  • Coordinates discussions with potential investigators regarding investigator-sponsored trials and research proposals with internal company stakeholders.
  • Identifies issues related to patient enrollment and retention efforts in planned or ongoing Company-sponsored clinical studies and communicates insights to the Clinical Development team.
  • Recommends study sites and identifies potential investigators to participate in Clinical Development programs.
  • Assists in training external advocates, such as speakers, and internal personnel, including commercial, with Medical/Legal/Regulatory (MLR) materials as requested.
  • Works seamlessly with internal Medical Affairs colleagues to identify regional and national scientific conferences of interest and plans and executes activities therein.
  • Attends key scientific meetings to facilitate exchange of scientific information with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The MSL works closely and oversees the work of more junior Medical Science Liaison(s).
  • This is a field-based position; must reside in the region where the job duties will be executed.
  • Domestic travel will be required.  International travel may be required with multi-night stays.
  • This position is field based/remote.  Attendance in the corporate office is expected as well as periodic off-site meetings and conferences as required by business necessity or as reasonably required by the position's manager.

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

  • Bachelor's Degree with Advanced Degree(s) and scientifically experienced or credentialed (e.g., PharmD, PhD, other graduate level degree (e.g., MSN), or commensurate experience.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a pharmaceutical industry field based Medical Affairs role.
  • Advanced understanding of clinical medicine/clinical pharmacology, and associated disciplines (e.g. biostatistics) and drug development principles.
  • Knowledge of clinical development processes and procedures and accepted industry standards.
  • Experience in the hospital and integrated delivery network procedural environments, including ambulatory/outpatient centers is highly desired. 
  • Superior work ethic and desire to create positive experiences and make significant contributions.
  • Highest standards for integrity, including a thorough understanding of compliance guidelines, laws, and regulations relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong team player with a demonstrated track record of success in crossfunctional teams and in a fast-moving, rapidly growing, small-company environment.
  • Knowledge of the injectable drug product market within hospital and integrated delivery network procedural environments, including ambulatory/outpatient centers.
  • Ability to conduct in-depth scientific discussions with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
  • Organized. Works independently in a dynamic environment with minimal direction, identifies field medical project needs, and creates MSL project plans.
  • Manages competing priorities and projects, requiring an excellent ability to prioritize and manage expectations.
  • Interacts effectively within Medical Affairs, cross-functionally, and with Executive Leadership.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate clearly, simply, succinctly, and effectively.
  • Ability to contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts and other documents relevant to the study and use of company's products and development candidates.
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and video engagement programs such as Teams, Zoom, and Meets.
