Responsibilities:
- Greet and check-in patients in a friendly and professional manner
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments using medical scheduling software
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries or direct calls to appropriate staff members
- Maintain patient records and update medical information as necessary
- Verify insurance information and collect co-pays or payments from patients
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers or specialists
- Ensure the waiting area is clean, organized, and welcoming to patients
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a Medical Office or healthcare setting preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
- Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with Athena EMR system is a plus
Please note that this position does not involve working in an emergency room (ER) setting.
