Founded in 1974, West Coast Retina has become one of the nation’s most respected vitreoretinal practices. Description
Under the direction of the Finance Director and Revenue Cycle Supervisor, responsible for the accurate billing and reconciliation of patient medical claims. As a trainee, the Specialist will learn the necessary foundation to successfully function in a Medical Billing office, including charge posting, claims scrubbing, payment reconciliation, account mediation, collections processing, and alternative coverage processing.
Responsibilities
- Verifies insurance status for scheduled patients. Contacting patients with expired or unlisted coverage to determine what benefits may be available.
- Check and correct bills and accounts for numerical accuracy and proper coding
- Post service claims into Practice Management system
- Verify forms and accounts for completeness and accuracy
- Review paid, denied, and rejected claims for accuracy and corrections
- Process appeals for denied claims
- Post payments from various funding sources
- Track and reconcile daily performance for the ‘Shift Report’
- Act as resource or subject matter expert for same day services: urgent authorizations, alternative coverage processing, A/R flags
- Prepare HCFA billing to third-party insurances
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to pass a background-check
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- WPM: 55
