Medical Biller
Duties:
- Review and analyze patient medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, DRG, and ICD-10 codes for billing purposes.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of medical claims to insurance companies.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for procedures.
- Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, and appeal as necessary.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
- Stay updated on industry changes and regulations related to medical billing and coding.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Proficiency in ICD-9, DRG, and ICD-10 coding systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Familiarity with insurance claim forms and billing processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and data entry.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
