Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing medical procedures, ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance companies, and maintaining patient records. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing and coding systems, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills.
Position is flexible with 32 hour workweek spread over 4 or 5 days. Strong potential for hybrid or work from home if desired.
Duties:
- Review charges using familiarity with ICD-10 coding systems
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by mail
- Post patient and insurance payments accurately
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, resolving any issues or discrepancies
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers regarding billing inquiries or disputes
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collaborate with the medical office staff to ensure accurate documentation of services provided
- Manage patient billing and collections process as needed
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing and coding regulations and guidelines
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical billing or coding preferred
- Proven experience in a pediatric office as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
- Familiarity with medical collection systems and processes
- Proficient in using electronic medical record (EMR) software, eCW familiarity preferred
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
