Job Description
KIDS Urgent Care in Wheaton, IL is seeking to hire a part-time Pediatric Medical Assistant with pediatric urgent care experience. The ideal candidate would be cross trained as a medical assistant and front desk receptionist.
This position is responsible for triaging patients, obtaining vital signs, and checking patients in and out.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following are a list of expected duties. While the list is not all-inclusive, it is reasonable to expect that the candidate would willingly and readily meet and exceed these responsibilities in an effort to provide optimal care to the presenting patient.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Education: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school;
CPR certification
Experience: One to three years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in pediatric practice environment.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
· Triage patients and take patients history and vital signs
· Prepare patients for exams and treatments
· Perform Rapid Strep Tests, Rapid flu tests, EKG’s, some injections such as Rocephine, Dexamethasone, etc.
· Handle telephone calls
· Complies with safety standards.
· Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to patient rooms and waiting area
· Answer phone, and initiate call backs when checking in on patients.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
TEAM Commitment:
· Arrive each day prepared to work at your appointed time opening the clinic and closing the clinic
· Be prepared to leave at the end of the day only after patient care is completed.
· Attend and participate in regular staff and Quality Assurance meetings
· Offer to help during down time.
· Offer to help educate other team members/acting as a mentor
· Supervise mid-levels as requested/required
PERSONAL/PROFESSIONAL Commitment:
· Professional appearance is an absolute Must.
· Current CPR certification and appropriate certifications per role (e.g. PALS)
· Understanding of the concepts of universal precautions, HIPAA and OSHA
· Team player who is equally comfortable working independently
· Warm, friendly attitude with excellent patient interaction skills
· Excellent verbal and communication skills, adaptable in different situations, possesses excellent client interaction skills and able to multi-task

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS:
· Knowledge of medical terminology

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office and the internet.

· Ability to read and write instructions, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
· Excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle work-related stress is required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be able to work outside of regular business hours which may include evenings and weekends to meet customer requirements.
· Travels as necessary to meet operational needs.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
Radiological equipment used for medical diagnosis and treatment.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
