Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in clinical and administrative tasks, with a particular emphasis on phlebotomy. Experience in pediatric blood draws is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be instrumental in providing top-notch care and support to our patients, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow within our facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, scheduling appointments and referrals, updating patient records, and handling correspondence.
- Educating prospective patients on direct primary care and enrolling new patients
- Conduct patient intake, including taking medical histories, vital signs, and preparing patients for examination.
- Demonstrate proficiency in blood collection techniques and perform phlebotomy procedures with minimal discomfort to patients, including pediatric patients.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and minor procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by the physician, adhering to all regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
- Provide patient education and support, explaining procedures and aftercare instructions.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and proper functioning.
Qualifications:
- Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in phlebotomy with a strong track record of successful blood draws, particularly in pediatric patients.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, medical terminology, and patient privacy laws.
- CPR/BLS certification is required.
