Medical Assistant with 2 - 3 years of related experience. Responsible for interacting with and providing great service to patients and their families, including responding to questions, providing information, and serving as a liaison for Digestive Disease Specialists. Coordinate activities between different departments, handle communication, complaints and referrals. Log communications, send correspondence, and follow strict privacy guidelines to respect the privacy of patients and their families. Strong communication skills are important to be able to solve inquiries and relay concerns to the appropriate channels. Report progress to the Clinical Coordinator.
Patient Assessments and Care
· Initial patient assessment involving checking patient’s vital signs, measuring height and weight and obtaining the patient’s medical history including medical conditions, medications and allergies. Record findings into the patient chart and alert provider of the results.
· Perform tests and follow protocols that explain in detail how each test is to be performed.
· Patient education on collecting samples for laboratory testing, packing and shipping samples to their appropriate destination.
· Responsible for assuring patient files are complete and intact before and after each visit. Pertinent information like test results, patient history and medication list should be reviewed and corrected if necessary and ensuring the provider is aware of the available information.
· Act as a provider’s secretary
· Assist providers with exams and procedures
· Call or fax prescriptions to pharmacies
· Prior authorizations on medications
· Clean and maintain instruments and medical equipment
· Collect data about previous health, medical and surgical history from patients

· Provide patient education as directed by the provider
· Schedule patient appointments
· Schedule diagnostic procedures such as CT scans and MRIs
· Stock exam rooms
· Promptly answer phones with a smile, and communicate with patients in a courteous manner, using recommended verbiage to take messages and make appointments
· Be present, engaged and ready to work at all assigned shift times
· Make return appointment for the patient if needed, or enter recall into the practice management system
· Complete checklists as assigned and participate in department huddles to ensure that every single day flows smoothly
· Able to communicate relevant information to direct supervisor daily
· Able to adhere to all company policies and procedures
