A medical practice is seeking a motivated person to work as a full time Medical Assistant under the direction of the provider. The job requires good communication and computer skills. Essential Functions:

• Serve as a patient advocate during patient exam and treatment
• Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height
• Show patients to examination rooms, procedure rooms and prepare them for the physician
• Record patients' medical history, medications, allergies, vital statistics
• Ensure proper consent forms are obtained prior to preparing a patient for treatment
• Explain treatment procedures, medications and physicians' instructions to patients
• Under Provider direction, authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean
• Fax referrals and imaging orders
• Submit medication prior authorizations
• Answer phones in a polite and professional manner
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

• Previous medical experience
• Computer literate and organized
• Must be able to learn and work within an electronic medical record
• Work well as a team and independently. A friendly disposition and willingness to follow through and assist others is a must.
• Experience working with a multi-line phone system
