Med Spa Medical Assistant

The Med Spa Medical Assistant is an important piece to our team and assisting our providers in preparing patients for treatment, preparing rooms for patients, and ensuring we are providing the best experience possible for patients. They must be a self-starter, have a professional and friendly personality, and have a passion for working in aesthetics.

**KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
**

• Facilitate efficient patient flow throughout practice. Put forth a high level of energy and attention on ensuring that each patient has the most comfortable and convenient experience possible.
• Assist the provider as needed during exams and/or procedures, helping the provider be as efficient as possible. Seek to be one step ahead of provider and anticipate needs before they arise.
• Give direct patient care as directed within the scope of training.
• Room patients, update history, handle medication refills/documentation.
• Act as a scribe for dermatology clinic visits, entering clinical descriptions and diagnosis with appropriate spelling and terminology into the medical record.
• Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient check-in; enter diagnosis and departing time when patient is released.
• Be sensitive to wait times of patients. Communicate frequently with patients when the provider is running behind, and they are waiting. Inform team lead and provider when clinic is running behind so that patients can be notified, and efforts can be made to contact those who have not yet left home for their appointments.
• Become proficient at using EMR so that needed information can be obtained quickly.
• Set up procedures, ensure written consent is obtained, arrange room, position patient, and administer local anesthesia when needed.
• Obtain high quality, consistent digital photographs before and after each procedure.
• Ensure all verbal and written post care instructions are given to each patient.
• Maintain exam room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of exam rooms, to include instruments, gauze, other supplies, and patient handouts, disinfecting chairs between patients, etc.
• Ensure that any broken or unsafe equipment is removed in a timely manner and notify appropriate personnel.
• Travel to other VIVIDA Dermatology sites may be required.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Graduate or Equivalent

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Two (2) years’ experience working in the aesthetics field (Cosmetic, Plastic Surgery, or Medical Spa)
• Familiar with dermal fillers, Botox, and other laser procedures

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:

• Medical Assistant Certification (Preferred)
