The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for assisting physician with clerical duties, patient flow, patient care, and procedures. Full-Time position, hours may vary.

Essential Job Functions:
- Assists with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas. Assists in escorting patients.
- Obtain vital signs, weights, and Electrocardiograms (EKG) when needed. Assist with blood collection phlebotomy as needed. Ensure chart is available, with relevant lab work and test reports if indicated, for physician when the physician sees the patient. Assists physicians and APP with procedures.
- Ensure exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned after each patient leaves and prepared for the next patient. Assist with light housekeeping duties which include spills. Assists patient with obtaining food, toileting, ambulating, and maintaining comfort.
- Obtains vital signs: BP, temp, pulse, height & weight accurately and completely as required.
- Documents appropriately in EHR. Documenting H&P, ROS, PE, and vitals.
- Appropriately enters orders and schedules appointments in the EHR.
- Assures completion of patient charges as per policy.
- Employs appropriate and timely use of Tasking in EHR.
- Clean and sterilize designated equipment after use. Answers telephone in the treatment area and assists staff in scheduling treatments. Assists patients and communicates with Physicians to obtain prescription renewals as needed.
- Stock exam room treatment rooms with medical supplies, linen, and designated chart forms.
- Assists with training of new Medical Assistants. May perform administrative responsibilities as needed.
- Provides referrals and/or consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner in the EHR.
- Appropriately adheres to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposal of medical waste.
- Communicates & provides care consistent with the age, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of the patient.
- Provide patient education throughout patient visits including medication, surgical, and aftercare instructions.
- Answers the telephone in an appropriate manner. Directs calls and/or takes accurate messages.
- Effectively communicates problems, concerns, or issues to the Supervisor and/or Manager appropriately and promptly.
Physical Job Requirements:
- Physical mobility, the ability to stand for long periods of time, which includes movement from place to place on the job, taking distance and speed into account.
- Physical agility, which includes the ability to maneuver the body while in place.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers.
- Endurance (e.g. continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, walking).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate Degree’s preferred. (Not a deal breaker)
- Medical Assistant certification preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or within 30 days of hire, required
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, required.
- Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner, required
- Basic proficiency in computer use, required
- 2-3 years of Medical Assistant experience in an outpatient setting preferred
- Bilingual preferred.
