Pay Range: $16.00 - $25.50
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Medical Assistant works collaboratively with the patient care teams to support nursing and patient care needs within his/her scope of practice. He/she works a flexible schedule as necessary to support clinical operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assures correct sterilization procedures for instruments and equipment in accordance with protocols and prepares exam rooms for patient care, including stocking and restocking equipment.
- Greets and escorts the patient to the exam room. Ascertains and documents the reason for the visit, reviews plan from prior visit, and obtains required vital signs in order to properly prepare the patient.
- Documents necessary information accurately in the electronic medical record and on appropriate forms.
- Assists with patient referrals and form completion.
- Provides patient education as directed.
- Administers treatments and performs diagnostic procedures per protocols and scope of practice.
- Collaborates with the care team by reviewing patient schedules the day before to assess patient needs; gathering recent tests, hospital and immunization records, and prior screenings before patient visit; and participating in daily team huddle to ensure comprehensive care.
- Procures and processes lab specimens as needed and performs control testing on CLIA tests.
- Addresses issues and concerns of patient/family with providers and staff.
- Trains to train to work in Call Center/Registration to cover peak times or staff absences.
- Participates in quality improvement needs and performs other duties as directed.
