Who are we?
Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services with over 260 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.
It's no secret that we want to entertain the world. In order to do that we first must hire and develop the best people, starting with university students.
If you have a passion for solving challenging problems and are excited at the prospect of having a significant impact on productions that over 260 million viewers tune into, then we want to talk to you.
The Content Operations & Innovation organization at Netflix supports content to thrill members with efficient operational Workflows and execution while leveraging our scale and innovating to deliver more value on screen. Within this organization, the Media Workflows and Systems team partners with content, engineering, and product teams to support creatives to work efficiently and cost-effectively.
The Visual Effects (VFX) pod of the Media Workflows and Systems team operates and innovates on visual effects workflows, emphasizing connecting our content creators with their VFX teams. Netflix's expansive slate of movies and TV shows all require work no one thinks about, like changing green screens to sky and painting out safety wires and street lights. Our main focus is a global initiative called NetFX. On NetFX, we leverage our distributed computing ecosystem to unlock unprecedented levels of collaboration within our cloud-based platform, enabling artists around the world to access Netflix's infrastructure to deliver projects from around the world.
The NetFX platform team is responsible for ensuring that the platform is performant, global, available, and meets the needs of our users: 2D Comp, Roto, and Paint artists at vendors across the globe. We have hosted VFX work for projects from the Visual-Effects-Society-nominated Chicken Run 2 to Wednesday and One Piece to the Bollywood hit Guns and Gulaab and everything in between.
We are looking to hire an intern during Summer 2024 who will help coordinate and communicate with our many cross-functional teams as we continue to expand and innovate the capabilities of this impressive platform.
As an intern, you'll assist in facilitating departmental needs and will participate in a program that provides training and development intended to give you the skill set necessary to become a strong candidate for future entry-level positions in technical development at Media and Entertainment organizations.
You do not need prior experience to apply; once you submit your application, you'll receive an email inviting you to complete your application by filling out an Airtable form. You'll also be asked to submit a 300-word-maximum statement of intent (preferably in PDF format) within the form using the following prompt:
Make a reel for the social network of your choice (TikTok, Instagram, X, etc.) You do not need to post it, but you should go through the entire process. Then, write 300 words telling us about the creative experience.
Here are some questions to ask yourself as you craft your statement: What was the process you used? What were you trying to do? What worked well, and what was frustrating or surprising? If you had to do it a second time, what would you change? Alternatively, if you could change something about the technology you used, what would it be and why?
This posting will be open for a very limited time and will be closed for new applications by February 9, so if you're interested, please submit your application as soon as possible.
The Summer Internship
At Netflix, we offer a personalized experience for interns, and our aim is to offer an experience that mimics what it is like to actually work here. We match qualified interns with projects and groups based on interests and skillsets, and fully embed interns within those groups for the summer. Netflix is a unique place to work and we live by our values, so it's worth learning more about our culture.
Internships are paid and are a minimum of 12 weeks, with a choice of a couple fixed start dates in June to accommodate varying school calendars. Conditions permitting, our summer internships in 2023 for Content will be located in our Los Angeles, CA, office.
At Netflix, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine the Intern top of market. We rely on market indicators to determine compensation and consider your specific internship team, degree, and years of education to get it right. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary and will also be dependent on your location.
The overall market range for Netflix Internships in Content is typically $20/hour - $40/hour.
This market range is based on total compensation (vs. only hourly rate), which is in line with our compensation philosophy. Netflix is a unique culture and environment. Learn more here.
