Job Title: Mechanical Repair Station Supervisor
Department: Return Repairs
Reports To: Mechanical Products Production Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
SUMMARY
Supervises and coordinates the processing, repair, and assembly of returned mechanical products, under the authority of the Company's FAA Repair Station certificate, following FAA regulations and Company policies/procedures. Responsible for the direction and control of the department's personnel, efficient and safe use of equipment/materials required for the needed Mechanical Repairs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Oversees the processing, repair, and assembly of returned mechanical products, under the authority of the Company's FAA Repair Station certificate, following FAA regulations and Company policies/procedures, providing employee supervision and assistance, as needed.
  • Receives and logs returned products; evaluates returned products to determine scope of work and parts required for repair.
  • Performs root cause analysis on customer issues/returns; maintains internal corrective action system; performs system-wide audits for process improvement; assists in process certifications.
  • Orders parts, tools, supplies required for maintaining operational flow of product repairs; maintains required paperwork and data entry in accordance with Company procedures and computerized system.
  • Performs repair and test operations in accordance with proper documentation; documents repair work performed in accordance with Repair Station procedures and policy.
  • Coordinates and expedites other repair/assembly operations with production control and manufacturing supervisors; strives to meet Company performance goals.
  • Provides supervision and training to Mechanical Repair Technicians, Assemblers, and Repairers.
  • Participates as an internal auditor supporting AS9100 and FAA internal audits.
  • Participates in audits of FAA procedures.
  • Utilizes standard measuring equipment.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. Handles employee production inefficiencies or disciplinary problems; make recommendations on discharge or other disciplinary actions, transfers, promotions, and any other changes in employee status in accordance with established policy.
  • Maintains time, attendance, and production records. Performs estimates and recommends requisitions of supplies, equipment, and materials.
  • Interprets Company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations and good housekeeping. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
  • Complies with and conducts business in accordance with the letter, spirit, and intent of all relevant laws and regulations, policies, work procedures, instructions; wherefore, refrains from any illegal, dishonest, unethical conduct. Maintains communications with all employees, vendors, customers and others in a cooperative and professional manner, while treating them in with dignity, respect and courtesy.
  • Performs other related duties as required and may be assigned.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees, supervises, and directs the activities of the Return Repairs Department.
  • Must be an experienced, effective leader, a team player and strong supervisor; able to mentor and develop a good team, to extract the best performance possible.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Must understand data, and possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities,
  • Must be able to develop and align business plans with quantifiable requirements, placing the requirements into action.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS, and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Education: Associate's Degree, with emphasis on Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience: Three (3) years applied experience and/or training in mechanical assembly and repair; previous aerospace assembly background and supervisory/team leader experience preferred.
  • Certifications: A P certificate is not required, but preferred.
  • Or, equivalent combination of education and experience.

In addition, this position requires:
  • Ability to comprehend oral and graphic instructions or technical information, and write simple documentation and correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to assembly workers, supervisors, engineers, FAA inspectors and certification officials, customers, and other employees of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical assembly and problem diagnosis to the component parts level. Ability to identify technical problems, evaluate and select available options for solutions and to carry out instructions furnished.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and interpret engineering specifications. Good knowledge of hand tools, machinery, and mechanical test equipment.
  • Strong computer skills with strong proficiency in Windows interface, including QA applications, MAPICS, XA Power-Link, design, and basic proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and databases (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Familiar with concepts of quality control and safety involving Mechanical Repairs.
  • Required to pass visual acuity exam (with or without corrective lenses) and meet Safety Sensitive position requirements.
  • This position must meet "US Person" Export Control compliance requirements, as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15, which includes: US Citizen, US National, Legal Permanent Resident, Asylee, or Refugee.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Required to complete qualifications and obtain the FAA Repairman Certificate.
  • Required to complete qualifications and obtain FAA Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR).
