The Mechanical Maintenance Mechanics - Entry through Senior level will perform the installation and maintenance of basic mechanical equipment. Assist under the close supervision of qualified mechanics with moderately complex maintenance tasks on mechanical equipment. Attends classroom, on-the-job, and other types of training as deemed necessary by line management.
Responsibilities:
- Works from approved standard and special procedures taking guidance from management and experienced mechanics as warranted
- Completes work orders
- Follows/complies with applicable safety, radiological control policies and procedures, and site lockout/tagout program
- Assembles mechanical apparatus from material and parts following instructions
- Performs routine mechanical tasks such as painting, tool crib custodian, basic carpentry, safety inspections, carpet installation, ceiling tile installation, repacking valves, and minor piping repair
- Assists more experienced mechanics with the installation, inspection and maintenance of moderately complex mechanical equipment, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and allied equipment
- Operates motorized vehicles and associated equipment within licensing limits
- Performs ancillary rigging of equipment
- Successfully completes classroom, on-the-job training, lectures, seminars and other forms of training
- Meets the physical requirements for the essential job duties, which may include being able to lift/handle 50 pounds, climbing, bending, twisting, exposure to extreme temperatures, wearing protective clothing/equipment (including respiratory) and meeting radiological control (RCI) requirements
- Performs administrative functions such as reading, reviewing and understanding manuals and procedures.
- Performs clerical activities as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Relocation benefits are not available for these positions.
- Selected candidates must successfully complete and remain current on training as designated by the Facility Maintenace Manager.
The Entry Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic (Grade M1) serves as the training position for Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic (Grade M2) and Senior Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic (Grade M3) positions.
Experienced Applicants:
If qualified by experience or training as defined by the established job descriptions, candidates may be considered for Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic (Grade M2), or Senior Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic (Grade M3) levels. There are additional minimum requirements for experience and training. An expanded job description is available on request.

- Demonstrated experience/training consistent with the duties outlined above (e.g. communications/ controls, HVAC/refrigeration, construction, residential wiring, equipment repair, auto repair)
- Associate’s degree in Electronic Engineering Technology, Electronic Instrumentation Technology, Industrial Electronics Technology, Electromechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent
