The Mechanical Designer - Team Lead is responsible for all mechanical design activity in the ATS Global Services - North American Service Center.
Duties involve contributing to design changes for retrofit projects, generating concept design, releasing drawings for production, providing input for quoting design work effort, and supporting the service team.
A post-secondary diploma or degree in mechanical design, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
A minimum of 10 years of mechanical design experience.
Working knowledge of common machine shop techniques.
Well versed in drafting principles.
Proficient in AutoCAD and Solid Works.
Capable of designing tooling from sketches or verbal concepts.
Well versed in the use of electrical devices (i.e. switches, load cells, LVDT's, etc.), pneumatics and hydraulics.
Must be capable of giving and taking directions.
Ability to conceptualize and create solutions for complex design issues.
Ability to work effectively with both internal cross functional teams and customers according to deadlines.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, & Excel.
Ability to read, speak, write, & understand English in a professional manner.
Strong initiative, innovative, and keen attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills; Experience working with customers to resolve problems.
Willingness and ability to work at a customer site in California for a 6-month project (return trips home will be provided) and 10% thereafter.
Must be eligible and able to travel domestically & internationally within 30 days from hire date and legally eligible to operate a vehicle, as this is an essential job function.
