OVERVIEW:
Victaulic is seeking a Mechanical Engineer who will research, design, and develop fire protection products including, sprinklers, flexible sprinkler fittings, and special hazards systems.
Job Responsibilities
This position will report to the director of Fire Suppression technology and is required to perform the following activities:
- Executes all phases of Product Development, Ideation, Investigation, Development, Build and Validation
- Responsible for developing the project and leading the engineering from initial design to production.
- Work with projects teams to maintain schedules of time to market, costs, and tooling.
- Work with Product Management, Regulatory and Sales teams to obtain worldwide and agency approvals.
- Witness testing at worldwide laboratories as part of requirements for completing approvals and listings of new and revised product designs
- Performs solid modeling designs and evaluates products for stress analysis, fluid flow, strength of materials, metallurgy, static analysis, and elements of machine design for designing products.
- Interprets engineering drawings checking for accuracy, dimensional tolerances and completeness of all design drawings and specification sheets.
Skills and Qualifications
- Must have Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering with 5 or more years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks
- Experience with Ansys tools preferred
- Able to lead design reviews and assist in developing design review requirements for mechanical components
- Working knowledge of mechanical/ piping systems and associated machinery is a plus
- Occasional domestic and international travel required for customer visits and equipment start-up.
- Versed and knowledgeable with Codes and Standards:
- NFPA Standards 13, 75, 318, 750, 770, 2001, 2010
- Experience with agencies such as UL, CSA, FM, VdS, and LPCB
- Provide manufacturing support for both suppliers and Victaulic operations
- Experience with automated/electrically controlled valves and basic electronic controls preferred
- Experience with data loggers/ acquisition preferred
