We have an opening for a Mechanical/Marine engineer to work in the Machinery Department. In this position you have a significant role in developing Propulsion, Auxiliary, and HVAC system designs on various types of military and commercial vessels. This work will include performing heating and cooling load calculations, HVAC diagram development, reviewing existing system designs for requirement compliance and system functionality, etc.
Location: This position is a hybrid position from either our Arlington, Philadelphia, New Orleans, or New York City office. You will be expected to work in the office 1-2 days per week.
Primary Responsibilities
Works independently, or on project teams
Able to manage schedule and technical product development for small, focused tasks
Perform calculations applying Mechanical Engineering principles, techniques, procedures and criteria
Prepare quality assurance reviews of simple analyses or other engineering documentation
Interfaces with client peer level
Performs quality assurance reviews of simple analyses, calculations and drawings developed by junior staff
Perform engineering and sizing of auxiliary machinery piping systems for early ship concept design phases
Interfaces with client at peer level
Direct interface with design leads
Client interface, at an appropriate level.
Manage project schedule and technical product development.
Basic Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship and must be eligible to be granted a security clearance if required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
2 to 4 years of marine engineering or ship design experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in AutoCAD or other CAD type software
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing shipboard ventilation systems to commercial and military specs and standards is preferred. Commercial HVAC design experience will be considered.
Proficient in using industry-standard piping system design and analysis software tools.
Perform calculations applying HVAC engineering principles, techniques, procedures and criteria.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $65,000.00 - $117,500.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
