Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer Ito join the Data Center Power and Control Division Server Tech Team in Reno, NV. The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with design and manufacturing teams to develop, test and finalize product documentation and bill of material (BOM) for existing and newly developed products using CAD and product lifecycle management (PLM) software. This position will support sustaining engineering functions creating engineering change orders (ECO) and reviewing documentation and BOMs for completeness and accuracy.
What Will You Do?
- Design sheet metal enclosures around electromechanical assemblies using CAD software and applying DFM principles.
- Using CAD and PLM software, create, review and release design drawings ranging from sheet metal fabrication, product assembly, cabling/wiring, and part specification.
- Within the PLM system, create, modify, and review finished good BOMs.
- Execute excel macros in effort to create consistent BOMs.
- Generate product subassembly BOMs and documentation packages that will be used for prototyping, testing, and product release.
- Support Product Management requests on product wiring diagrams and 3D step model generation.
- Execute ECO on first article and production parts. Change orders will consist of BOMs and design drawing updates.
- Research and resolve issues associated to PLM and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) databases.
- Perform and report prototype enclosure fit checks, mechanical pull tests, and other mechanical impact and load tests.
- Assist with designing and testing manufacturing fixtures to ease product assembly.
- Assist with developing document methods for process improvement, control and accuracy.
- Research to identify components, technologies, or materials that aid in design or product improvement.
- Perform tasks in a timely manner and proactively communicate schedule changes with peers and mangers.

Education
- Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with emphasis in Mechanical Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
- 1-4 years’ experience in engineering role.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Experience with product design using CAD and PLM software. Autodesk Suite (Inventor, Vault, and AutoCad) and Agile PLM experience a plus.
- Experience with change control processes using PLM software.
- Experience with generating and reviewing PLM product BOMs.
- Ability to perform engineering tests and write test reports.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. SAP experience a plus.
- Knowledge of mechanical drawing standards a plus.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the Company including Engineering, Marketing, and Sales.
- Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently.
- Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook). Experience with Macros a plus.
