Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical Engineer at Decimal Engineered Systems located in Canby, OR.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing machines and equipment for extraction and processing. Your day-to-day tasks will include utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) to create detailed mechanical drawings, managing projects to ensure timely completion, and contributing to research and development (R&D) activities.

Full Job Description
Decimal Engineered Systems is seeking an experienced, full-time Mechanical Engineer to join our expanding company. We are looking for someone with industrial engineering experience or interest.
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design of mechanical projects requiring and developing some technical knowledge and building experience in the industries that Decimal serves. The person in this role will provide technical analysis and resolution of engineering problems, while working within a multi-disciplined team.
This position will involve work on industrial and manufacturing projects. Assignments may include leading or participating in the design aspects of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs); fluid systems, chemical, gas, and other industrial services; industrial plant process layouts; mechanical drawings, including bill of materials, atmospheric tanks and pressure vessels, including ASME Section VIII standards.
Qualifications
Mechanical Engineer with ASME and drafting experience: At least 5 years (Preferred)
Experience and Skills
• 5 to 10 years’ experience in mechanical design.
• Experience with design and drafting of systems, components, and structures based on industry-specific standards, experience in industrial facilities, and familiarity with applicable codes and standards.
• ASME Section VIII. Familiar with ASME program including software and codebooks with ability to communicate throughout production.
• Organized and able to maintain ASME certifications.
• Ability to be part of a collaborative team of engineers, project managers, designers, and drafters.
• Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Knowledge of industry drafting standards and Autodesk CAD products (Revit, Plant 3D, AutoCAD desired).
• Excellent work ethic and habits that include being dependable, flexible, taking initiative, and being results-driven.
• Excellent time management skills in order to prioritize tasks accurately to meet multiple or fluctuating deadlines in a fast-paced working environment with frequent interruptions.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service and communicate appropriately and. effectively, both orally and in writing, with clients, project managers, and other engineers
• Ability to meet deadlines for production and R&D projects.
Your Responsibilities
• Develop innovative designs that meet or exceed customer's requirements and expectations.
• Prepare design concepts in a team environment.
• Familiar with projects costing to quote project cost effectively.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates for equipment in the concept stage of development.
• Select cost effective, reliable design components and coordinate with purchasing for timely delivery.
• Coordinate development and maintenance of accurate bills of materials.
• Provide technical direction and problem resolution during assembly and start-up.
• Design and detail components and assemblies as related to the manufacture and assembly of custom automation equipment.
• Design and detail component parts and assemblies to meet the specific needs of each internal department and design intent specifications.
• Create 2D drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for system release.
• Perform Self Check and Peer Review of drawings and BOMs prior to release to ensure accuracy.
• Execute revisions to BOMs and drawings per redlines and feedback from Manufacturing and Engineering.
• Analyze tolerance stacks of assemblies for capability of assembly and fabrication.
• Active member of development team; willingness to work with other internal and external customers.
• Hands-on involvement and desire to verify fit and function of design intent.
Your Qualifications
• Excellent mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to use CAD systems such as AutoCAD to create drawings highly desired.
• Ability to use PCs to do conventional word processing, navigate the internet, and utilize internal systems for drawing access, component tracking, email, etc.
• Ability to perform from oral or handwritten instructions.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Good interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
• Ability to read, write and understand English.
• Physical capabilities include sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
Your Education and Experience
• ASME or equivalent experience required.
• At least 2 years of recent machine design required.
• Familiarity with machine control systems and experience with pneumatic systems.
• 3D solid modeling CAD expertise (SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor) with application of GD&T principles.
This is a long-term or permanent, full-time position.
